The Balanced Equine
Hello! My name is Kate, and I am the Certified Equine Bodywork practitioner behind The Balanced Equine. I will never forget my first experience watching one of my own horses being worked on by a horse massage therapist. My arabian mare tripped in a huge pot hole during some canter work one day and went down really hard somehow avoiding crushing my leg in the process (bless her heart). She seemed fine and after taking it easy for a couple of days we got back to work. As time went on, it became clear she was becoming less comfortable under saddle. I had a recommendation to try a local massage therapist, and lucky for me he was able to make it out in a couple days. Watching him work on her, and her reaction was a magical and unexpected experience.
One of the most intriguing things about the horse/human relationship is how soundly it relies on reading body language and picking up on subtleties. Horses don't lie, and are willing to tell us everything we need to know if we are willing to listen. Being able to communicate with these amazing creatures to find spots they may be sore or holding tension, addressing the area and providing some sort of relief is nothing short of a cathartic experience. I feel so lucky to be able to provide any sort of support for these animals. It feels like such a privilege, and I cannot wait to continue to add to “my toolbox” of myofascial release techniques, stretches, and muscle manipulations to make our equine family members feel their best!
